If you log on to http://www.blythehillfields.org.uk, you can click on their Downloads for all published Minutes of their meetings going back over 10 years. This annual Festival is now in its 11th year and is held specifically to raise funds for park improvements. Last year, the Friends also issued the result of its own Park User Survey – the top request for those who responded [myself included] was for the park to focus on improvements to Wildlife/Natural habit throughout the park. Incidentally, there was no question at all as to whether park users supported an ongoing, annual Festival – without surprise.

You will note from the Friends’ official website that they have not uploaded the Park User Survey results and have only uploaded the Minutes from a January meeting of its membership. Since then, the only other meetings that have taken place are Sub Committee member meetings relating to organising the Festival, which have not been published.

You will note that there is no information about what the Friends’ will be doing with any money raised either.

This has happened every single year and is simply ridiculous – money is raised and then not allocated in full before they start organising the next Festival. The consequence is that park continues to lack public amenities, events and general interest year after year as the Friends’ place too much effort into organising a 5 hour event, once per year, which has no lasting effects.

I urge park users to boycott this event in 2017.

    • wow Austen, the accusations that you are raising are serious and should be looked at. I urge Love Catford to dig further into this comment!!

      • I would be careful about what gentleman has to say … likely to be a case of sour grapes. Mr Jones was kicked off the friends group for aggressive and inappropriate behaviour. I would check the “information ” he has provided about this hard working voluntary group, before taking it as fact.
