Rushey Green Ward Assembly Fund 2017/18

The Rushey Green Assembly Fund is now open, for applications for projects by local community organisations that meet our priorities.

HOW MUCH CAN WE APPLY FOR?
The maximum grant allowed is £1,500. The average grant made in 2016/17 was approx. £1,300 .

WHEN CAN WE APPLY?
Application forms, which will include details of the priorities, are available now to view and download at: www.lewisham.gov.uk/localassemblies.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?
The deadline for applications is 5.00 pm Friday 10th November
PRIORITIES
Rushey Green Assembly Fund can be used to fund any project which fits within the priorities below:

1. Activities and opportunities for children (under 18) and young people
(under 25)
2. Increasing opportunities for older people (55+)
3. Community cohesion – including events, activities and projects designed to create a sense of community in Rushey Green
4. Culture and the arts with particular reference to improving the wellbeing of people in the Rushey Green Area
5. Improving your local area including local ‘streetscape’, environment and ecology

WHAT TYPES OF PROJECTS HAVE BEEN FUNDED IN THE PAST?
In 2016, the following projects were funded:

  • Trees on the Green – with flower beds: a project to build on the greening of Rushey Green and engagement of local community
  • Felday Road Street Party 2017: Street Party promoting community cohesion
  • Diamonds club Holidays from home for older people: project to combat social isolation of older people
  • 1life fit bus for teenagers : project to promote physical activity for teenagers in Mountsfield Park
  • Lewisham Youth Theatre: Junior theatre 8 -11’s: project offering free drama sessions for young people
  • Golden Years Club: activities and social contact for isolated older people
  • Rainbow Club for refugee children: project delivering educational and social support to young vulnerable refugee children
  • Rushey Green Football Project for kids: project to encourage take up of sport by children and young people
  • Lewisham Irish Community Garden Project: project to improve the accessibility and welcoming aspect of local community centre and involve volunteers
  • Step up and stitch up: wellbeing for over 55’s: project to offer a social and leisure outlet to older people experiencing a range of disadvantages, health problems or isolation
  • Access at Mountsfield Park Community Garden: project to improve the access for older and disabled people to a popular local park in Rushey Green.
