FoodCycle a UK charity, is opening a branch in Rushey Green this spring and they create delicious meals from unsold but still consumable produce from supermarkets which might otherwise have been thrown away. Foodcycle Lewisham launches this spring and will be based at the rather splendid Rushey Green Time Bank in Catford.
Foodcycle are looking for volunteers to join the team including a cooking leader and a fundraiser.
Mary McGrath, FoodCycle chief executive said: “Using surplus food and the energy of amazing volunteers to reach those in need, our model is very simple…
“This meal could be one chance a week, our guests have to sit down and share a meal with others and I’d urge anyone who is interested in volunteering or visiting the project to get involved.”
