We have been told that the Gabrieli Players are one of the best Orchestras in the world – whoa!
check out Gabrieli’s website:
Here is some info on CPE Bach
He was son of J S Bach who wrote the famous Toccata for organ and the St Matthew Passion.
It is interesting that his musical style was seen as the bridge between the baroque style of his father and the classical style of Mozart. The Magnificat that St Andrews are doing is certainly more flamboyant and dramatic than the work of his father.
Have a listen on youtube! It is a fabulous work!
Performances by Vanessa Ashbee – Soprano, Sarah Pring – Alto, Tom Robson – Tenor, Adrian Clarke – Bass
Conducted by James Olley, Director of Music, Nick Bland.
The performance will be opened by Heidi Alexander M.P.

We went to this concert on Saturday – it was brilliant! Lots of local people there, enjoying the lovely singing from Deutche Bank and St. Andrews singers, and music from world-class historically informed performance ensemble Gabrieli players. All that and free wine and nibbles too and just around the corner! What’s not to like?!
