Lee Gate Market – every Sunday

Lee Gate Shopping Centre welcomes a brand new Market and the first of its kind to join the local area.

This weekly outdoor market offers fresh food produce and street food stalls, with plans to introduce arts, makers and boutique fashion. The idea for setting up Lee Gate Market is to provide the neighbourhood with a diverse range and quality products, to encourage more activity through small industry and foster change in the Shopping Centre.

As it is well known, markets can be a vehicle to bring communities together, and their mission is to do just that!

Lee Gate Market was initially launched 23 July and throughout the first few weeks it has been warmly received with fantastic reviews on quality and affordability. All this hasn’t been without its challenges as any start up would endure its teething. However with so much to look forward to the Market has a bright future ahead.

The Market has kicked off to a great start offering chemical-free fruits and vegetables, as well as free-range organic meats direct from a small UK farm. A wonderful choice of artisan produce from cheese and honey, to fresh breads and pasta. In such little time we have seen food from many corners of the earth; Sardinian, Greek, French, Oriental and Creole cuisines.

‘‘The end goal is to see local trade thrive to encourage and champion independents. We want to become the Sunday hub for the local community and show the world Lee has so much to offer’’.

Lee Gate Market is open every Sunday from 10am-2pm.
